Car Crashes Into Brooklyn Bakery; Woman Killed



NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- A woman was killed when an SUV careened out of control, jumped a curb and then slammed into a bakery in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Tuesday, police said.

The accident happened at the corner of 86th Street and 5th Avenue.

The 40-year-old driver of a Honda CRV made a wrong turn and first struck a man waiting at a bus stop, police said. She then continued onto the sidewalk, hit a man who was walking and then slammed into a woman standing in front of the bakery, according to authorities.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The male pedestrian was taken to Lutheran Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

The SUV's driver and a passenger in the car were also injured and taken to Lincoln Medical Center. Their conditions are also unknown.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
