TRENTON, N.J. -- Education Department officials in New Jersey Tuesday are slated to release results of a survey on the percentage of teachers who are considered highly qualified.
Those teachers must have a bachelor's degree, a certificate and documentation of expertise in each subject taught.
The report is required under the federal No Child Left Behind act.
States were supposed to have 100 percent of core classes taught by highly qualified teachers by this fall. However, the federal government gave them an extension.
