NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Was it a tornado? Yes it was.
A weak tornado uprooted trees and smashed cars in Massapequa on Friday, but no injuries were reported.
The F0 tornado also knocked out power to some residents in eastern Long Island.
The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning earlier in the day for sections of Manhattan, the Bronx and northern New Jersey.

A strong thunderstorm produced some strong winds and some flash flooding Friday.
Con Ed reported 350 power outages in Queens Friday afternoon.
In Westchester, about 350 power outages were also reported, mostly in the New Rochelle area.

Late Friday morning the National Weather Service Issued a Tornado Warning but that was canceled without any tornado sightings.
Severe weather also caused problems for Long Island Rail Road commuters this afternoon. Heavy downpours knocked out service on various lines moving from west to east. None of the service interruptions lasted more than 20 minutes.
