Nancy Littlefield, Former Head of NYC Film Office, Dies

NEW YORK (AP)  -- Nancy Littlefield, who headed New York City's Office of Motion Pictures and Television for five years under Mayor Edward Koch, has died. She was 77.

Littlefield died Thursday of lung cancer in Delray Beach, Fla., said her daughter-in-law, Kate Littlefield. She had homes in Delray Beach, Manhattan and Ocean Beach, N.Y.

As director of the city film office from 1978 to 1983, Littlefield was responsible for bringing film production to New York by making it easier for producers to obtain permits.

After leaving her city post, she served as president of a Queens film studio and then joined Queens Public Television, where she served as executive director for 20 years.

She was the author of "Movies and Television: Getting In," published in 2003 by Xlibris Corp.

Her survivors include a son, Joshua, a daughter, Amy, and five grandchildren.
